About Steve

Steve Ramey’s practice areas are primarily general civil practice, natural resources law, real estate law, corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies.

 

Steve has represented both landowners and business owners in connection with sales, acquisitions, leasing, and financing of both urban and rural properties, timberlands, oil and gas prospects, ongoing retail businesses, restaurants, motels, parking garages, and residential developments.

In 2016 Steve represented the owner of one of the principal office buildings in downtown Shreveport in the acquisition of an adjoining multi-story parking facility.

He is currently representing a large developer of mitigation banks in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Alabama in the acquisition, construction, development, and operation of a series of mitigation banks throughout the region.

In 2017, he represented the seller in the sale of a $1.5 million parcel of land in the rapidly developing Forbing area of Shreveport, involving appearances before both the Metropolitan Planning Commission and the Caddo Parish Police Jury in connection with title curative matters. In 2015 he was instrumental in the acquisition of multiple tracts of land by the Illinois Central Railroad Company in connection with the expansion of its existing track north of New Orleans.

In 2018, he represented an established client in its acquisition of $4.9 million of timberlands, being active in all aspects of the title review, due diligence, and drafting of closing documents.

From 2017 through 2021, he handled title review and title insurance matters for the Illinois Central Railroad Company in connection with its construction of a new bridge across the Bonnet Carre spillway north of New Orleans.

From 2020 to present, he has assisted in the acquisition and sale of a collection of hot mix plants in Southern Louisiana. He is currently also active in oil & gas title examinations in Northern Louisiana.

He has over 35 years of experience in rendering all manner of oil and gas title opinions, from drill site opinions to reservoir-wide division order opinions. He also has extensive experience in lignite mining opinions.

Since 2014, he has been handling the establishment and maintenance of multiple limited liability companies for an established family-owned land and timber company, including drafting of operating agreements and inter-generational gifting.
